Actors Complete Training
This studio is run by Bob Harter, one of Atlanta’s most respected actors, working frequently on-camera. He is also in demand as a voice-over artist, known for his many celebrity impressions and character voices. Classes include On-Camera Audition and On-Camera Acting Basics.

Actors Breakthrough Film Actors Training Studio
Actor’s Breakthrough provides rigorous and practical instruction for children, teens, and adults as they develop the advanced skills required to win roles in episodic television, feature film, and commercials. In this studio, there is only one standard to evaluate your acting skills: “Does the audience believe in you?” The studio’s mission is to help actors meet this single, simple, standard; the standard by which every professional actor is judged—both in the audition and on the screen. Actor’s Express was founded in 1988 and has long been considered one of the most daring, provocative and consistently excellent theatres in Atlanta. Most recently, Creative Loafing named Actor’s Express the Best Local Theatre Company of 2011. Classes include acting, improv and playwriting.

The Actors Scene
Located in Buford, GA, this is a great studio for actors living to the northeast of Atlanta. The studio offers programs for all skill levels for ages 4– adult in acting. The programs have two sessions: February–May, and August–November. Throughout the year long program, students will cover all aspects of the acting industry from TV to Film to Theater. They also offer audition taping services.

Chez Studios is the training wing of The Chez Group that started out as a premier casting agency in Atlanta under the direction of three-time Emmy nominated casting director, Shay Bentley-Griffin. This studio was created with the primary focus to strengthen the talent pool available to the film makers working in the Southeast. It offers a variety of workshops throughout the year focused on various aspects of acting and writing.

The Company Acting Studio
The Company Acting Studio was founded in 1996 by Lisina Stoneburner in Atlanta. This studio offers a structured training curriculum for all kinds of acting: film, TV, stage and commercials. The methods and techniques, while based in the teachings of Stanislavski and Stella Adler are a combination of practical work experience and years of training with various instructors and in various styles over the years. The staff members have their own required training program to qualify as instructors. The owners share a combined 30 years in the business. The founder, Lisina, was trained in Conservatory programs including The Stella Adler Conservatory, The New York School of Performing Arts and Boston University School of Theatre Arts.

Probably the only acting studio in Atlanta teaching the Strasberg Method, it also offers On Camera Audition technique classes as well as Marketing/Living the Actor’s Life to strategize the business side. Michael H. Cole Studio
Michael Cole is a prolific actor and a great coach, focusing specifically on on-camera audition technique. He also features guest speakers regularly and puts up stage plays every year, which is another way for his students to audition, perform and be seen.

Nick Conti’s Professional Actors Studio
Also locally called Nick Conti Studio because it is owned and operated by Nick Conti, this studio is located in Buckhead. Easy access from GA 400. Nice facilities. Great improv classes. I’ve personally taken the improv classes here with Matt Cornwell and loved them.

The Rob Mello Studio
The Robert Mello Studio is the only acting studio in Atlanta offering complete Meisner-based training by an instructor with over 15 years of teaching experience. Students from The Robert Mello Studio have worked on dozens of hit TV shows, in feature films, Broadway and off-Broadway.

The Alliance Theater Acting Program
Celebrating over 30 years of excellence, the Alliance Theatre Acting Program has developed a comprehensive curriculum in stage, film, and television acting. Atlanta Workshop Players (AWP)
AWP’s “Actor’s-Track” is designed to exercise creativity and develop a love and appreciation for the arts in an exciting, joyful atmosphere. Their “Pro-Track” trains and inspires the serious student who wishes to pursue a career as a performer. Classes are held at AWP’s Studio of the Arts.

The Brink Improv

Founded in 1995, Dad’s Garage Theatre has grown from a small volunteer led organization to a thriving mid-size theatre led by professional artistic and administrative staff. They put up original scripted products and improve shows year-round. Founded in 2001, Sketchworks is Atlanta’s premier live sketch comedy company and troupe featuring some of Atlanta’s top working pros. The group also conducts classes in both writing and acting, always developing and launching the next generation of Atlanta’s funniest artists and talent. Visiting LA Teachers / Seasonal Classes
Some of the top instructors from LA regularly come down to Atlanta to teach as well.
Crystal is an LA-based acting coach and teacher. She teaches “auditioning by heart”, utilizing students’ emotional, intellectual and spiritual sensibilities to generate a character’s life. She holds weekend workshops in Atlanta.
Margie is an LA-based audition technique and acting coach. She travels to teach in Atlanta twice per year to teach at YourAct Studio.
Sam Christensen Studios
The Sam Christensen Program of classes and workshops provides a tested, research-based system that adapts as careers grow and change by defining an image, an individual ‘Personal Brand for actors. Sam’s classes in Atlanta are held at Drama Inc. acting studio.
Ted Brunetti Studio South
Ted is one of the last protégés of the famous acting teacher, Uta Hagen. A passionate teacher with great insights into the industry and a solid framework for script analysis, he visits Atlanta every year for focused classes and workshops at the Lovett School near Cumberland Mall area. I completed a 4 day class with him recently and loved it.

Most acting teachers usually spend some time at the beginning of class going over what’s happening in the industry in Atlanta and offer career management tips. But sometimes it’s hard to know how to move forward. Sometimes you need some personalized coaching. The resources below help you with that.
Acting Career Management Coaching with Mike Pniewski
Mike Pniewski is a very well established actor with a long string of credits under his belt. He offers one-on-one coaching to actors on the business side of acting – from planning to strategizing to actionable goals to accountability. Mike’s guidance helps a lot. If you prefer to work on your career in a group setting, this is worth considering. I’ve had friends take this class who’ve absolutely loved it.
